About Us

This is the Leong family, sons and daughters of the late Leong Tai Poen and Susie Ho. Dad passed away in Johannesburg, South Africa, in March 1978. Mom passed away in Vancouver, in March 1998.  Mom was born is Pretoria, South Africa, the second of 3 daughters, but grew up in China. Dad was born in Canton, China and made his way to South Africa on a boat with not much more than the clothes on his back. A carpenter by trade, Dad barely eked by, but hard work eventually paid off. The 'Apricot Lady' introduced Dad to Mom and the rest is History. Together they raised the seven of us the best way they could and a fine job they did and you can see the results of their labour in the pictures in this site

The Leong family is extremely close. Although the family is unable to get together very often, each time we do get together feels as if we have never been apart. Thankfully, this applies to all our offspring as well. Leong get togethers are known for lots of food and verrry loud chatter with many conversations going on at the same time. Remarkably nothing much is missed in the conversations.

The first house Dad could actually call his.  Dad had this house designed and built for him and we moved into this house in Reuven in 1968
